Deconstructed Intro
Deconstructed Opening Title Sequence
Task
Develop an intriguing opening sequence to the educational Deconstructed series, with emphasis on scalability and replicability.
Concept
A captivating character introduction video, beginning with a static wireframe 3D model that gently deconstructs, comes apart, revealing the character underneath, with vivid colors and absolute clarity.
Idea
The concept of the series "Deconstructed" was to enrich the viewer with in-depth knowledge - deconstruct everything about game characters and learn it in great detail.
In the series opening sequence, I aimed to mirror the viewer's initial lack of understanding through an incomplete, obscure form. Initially proposed as a stone texture, we ultimately opted for a flat-shaded wireframe, evoking the essence of a game engine.
As the character transitions into its clear form, we parallel that to the viewer's journey to clarity, learning the character's full potential and knowledge, akin to the profound insights gained from watching the series.
Enriched by fantastic music, I sought intricate close-ups, curious cinematography, examination of the transition, unique character poses, and stylish lighting.
Scalability
These videos needed to be effortlessly produced, as they accompanied multiple series simultaneously. The company aimed for a monthly release of 2-3 courses, and it being just one of my responsibilities, it had to evolve into a streamlined content factory.
A careful system was developed. The only part I needed to play was 3D model insertion, posing, camera and transition animation, lighting. The rest of process, including compositing, was fully automated.
This streamlined process reduced the total delivery time to approximately 1.5 days. Without overnight rendering, my personal investment in a single intro was reduced to 4-8 hours, equivalent to a day's or half-day's work.
